Why the European Championship was the worst idea

Allow me to explain myself before you take this the wrong way. I am going to explain how the WWE Europeans title was one of the worst ideas ever. First off to start there was some treats that held this title from Kurt Angle to Owen. To British Bulldog to Shane O Mac. This was a lower card title and was treated as such. From convoluted story lines to squash job this title was treated like trash from the get go

On February 26, 1997 the title was activated and was a lower card title from the start. It was nothing wrong with having a lower mid card title active. However if your going to treat a possible prestigious title like this you may have just flat out named it the lower mid card title.

British Bulldog won the title in Germany from his brother in law the late great Owen Hart and would go on to defend that title. It was passed all around the mid card until it finally landed in the hands of X-Pac. Where Shane Mcmahon had some classic battle or the green strap. This title went from wrestler to wrestler without never truly serving a purpose.

In July of 2002 it was finally deactivated at the hands of the intercontinental Championship. Which I've often thought of as a great title. So my final thoughts are if your going to ever bring the European Championship treat it with more respect. Give it the prestigious recognition it deserves.
